The breed of sheep bred on the shores of America, near the Caribbean Sea. Barbados Black-treat a small sheep, but they are distinguished by well developed muscles and strong bones. Wool is thick with dense undercoat layer, the average length of 2 cm wool, summer fades. Coat color red-brown with some dark streaks.

Rams can be easily distinguished from the sheep because of the thick and long hair on the chest and neck. Rams taller and heavier sheep at the withers their growth becomes up to 80 cm, and the mass becomes 60-90 kg, and the sheep have a body weight of only 40-60 kg. Lamb immediately after birth weighs 3-4 kg, but in spite of these small figures from the Barbados black-sheep can get up to 55% of meat products. Young birds gain weight quickly and in a six-month age is already possible to carry out copulation. Souse sheep 1-2 times a year, deliveries are carried easily. On fat lambs breast milk quickly start to gain weight.

The meat is very tender with a pleasant flavor, moderately greasy. Pure meat products obtained up to 55%.
